Good Things Come On a Stick

From Bambuza’s grilled chicken skewers to Berry-Ka-Bob’s white chocolate covered strawberries, some of the best bites at “The Bite of Oregon” are served on a stick. The Bite of Oregon is an annual event held at the Portland waterfront that serves up some of the state’s finest cuisine, craft beers, and local wines. If that’s not enough to get you through the gates, how about live entertainment like the Oregon Iron Chef competition and dozens of local bands rocking everything from swanky jazz to “Sweet Child O’ Mine.”

What Does “Country Fair” Mean To You?

As a born and raised Montanan, the words “country fair” mean livestock, 4-H, bump-n-runs, mini donuts, rodeos, country concerts, and cowboy boots. Last month I learned that those words mean something entirely different to the small city of Veneta, OR and the thousands of people who attend the Oregon Country Fair every year.

From the moment I spotted the huge blue and yellow big top near the Portland waterfront, I felt like a kid again. I oooooed, awwwed, and talked about it for weeks until one evening Keenan came home with tickets for Cirque du Soleil KOOZA….guess he picked up on my “suttle” hints!
