Glass of Christmas
Since I started my blog only 4 days before Christmas, I thought it would be fitting to begin with a Christmas-themed post. I was invited to a Christmas party last night complete with delicious appetizers (soon to come in another post) and festive holiday drinks. The most popular drink was called the Candy Cane- a creamy, minty glass of Christmas.
Here’s how you make it:
1. Line the bottom of a high-ball glass with a thin layer of grenadine
2. Pour 1/2 shot peppermint schnapps
3. Pour 1/2 shot white creme de cacao
4. Fill with 7-up
5. Top with half and half
6. Garnish with a candy cane (optional)
7. Enjoy!
Be sure to buy WHITE creme de cacao at the liquor store. I tried to make them at home a few nights after the party for my girlfriends and accidently bought dark creme de cacao. Needless to say, they didn’t turn out as pretty as the original so my mom called them “dirty” candy canes. It drove her so crazy she went back to the store and bought white creme de cacao. If you’re not worried about how it looks and all you have is the dark liquor..they taste the same! Happy Holidays everyone!
